Quatsch erscheint als Nr. 1 in der Reihe Lehrmaterial. Anna Bromley schrieb das Essay "Quatsch! Und wie ich es buchstabiere" während der Residenze Insensate bei Cose Cosmiche, Mailand, Oktober 2017.
"Beim Quatschen geht es darum," so beschreibt Anna Bromley, "die Begleitung der anderen Person(en) zu genießen, das ist auch schon alles... Es ist eine Zeit für Passivität, ein Raum in dem Spontanes und Undurchdachtes geäußert werden kann: Hier ist Platz für Halbgares."
Im Sommersemester 2019 an der Burg Giebichenstein war Quatsch ein Thema im Rahmen des Seminars Rongwrong. Die Kunst, Fehler zu machen von An Paenhuysen. Isabelle Hucht und Philippa Jochim entwickelten dazu weitere Gedanken:

"Quatsch" is the beautiful German word for talking nonsense, linguistically coming from the 18th century meaning of "wet mud." Curious about the subversion of silly, half-baked thoughts, artist and researcher Anna Bromley started spelling out QUATSCH during her Residenza Insensata at Cose Cosmiche in Milan. She understands "quatschen" as "a time that we don't usually take seriously. As expressed in the informal 'to term hang with.' It's a time for passivity and to occasionally say something more or less spontaneous, more or less stupid."
Philippa Jochim takes Anna Bromley's essay as a prompt to write seriously about Quatsch and to quatsch about seriousness.
Isabelle Hucht starts out with two propositions:
1. Scientific work is the opposite of Quatsch.
2. Boredom is a hotbed for Quatsch.
